Deep Listening to Nature with Andrew Skeoch

AndrewSkeoch2020_2.jpg

Andrew Skeoch is an acoustic ecologist, who has made a study of the way in which the soundscape of the natural environment allows species (especially birds) to coexist with a minimum of conflict. It has also encouraged the development of a richer biodiversity.

Andrew offers an immersive multimedia presentation, weaving a narrative of ideas with vibrant recordings of birdsong and nature sounds. These are supported by spectrogram analysis allowing an audience to appreciate the beauty and structure of nature’s communications.

As an experienced public speaker, Andrew engages audiences from community and naturalist groups to the academic level. He has appeared at WOMADelaide and the Woodford Festival, been broadcast on ABC Radio’s ‘Big Ideas’ program, and delivered a TEDx talk in Canberra. You can sample Andrew’s TEDx talk in You Tube under ‘Hearing your place in Nature’.
He is president of the Australian Wildlife Sound Recording group, and on the board of the Australian Forum of Acoustic Ecology.

There is limited seating in the Studio, so please book your place(s) as soon as possible by sending an email, with names of all attending, to Richard Jordan.
