Let’s talk events and capacity building

The last weekend in September will see an events industry symposium and free audio & lighting training sessions delivered at Bellingen Memorial Hall. It’s all about building capacity and connectivity in the community, to design and run events.

Jazz is back in Bello

Jazz, I’m pleased to report, is alive and swinging in Bellingen. But despite its on-going popularity, jazz has not been celebrated on a grand scale in this town since the demise of the beloved Bellingen Jazz Festival, which went into hiatus after its 2014 edition, ending an impressive 25-year run.

Acknowledging past volunteers – the lifeblood of the Hall

How does one express an organisation’s persona?

In a relatively small community such as ours, we may observe that the hall is a familiar place, in which we often see familiar faces. Such familiarity, both comforting and reassuring, can also be transformational when audiences are presented with work that challenges core beliefs. It’s the power of art.
